Getting started
I am going to leave this pretty open to my students. I want them to post pictures to our "map" of places on campus and even around town of places others in class might not know about. For instance, my office right across the hall from the LGBTQA Resource Center. I know there are a few in class who are aware it exists, but most do now. So my plan is to start our map by posting a picture of the resource center and get started that way. I am going to ask them to use the hashtag #TishlyU100. That way we should all see each other's posts. I am very very new to Instagram so I am sure there will be a large learning curve for me.....

Tishly, I have just started using Instagram within the last 5 months. It is fasinating what people share. I think the process you have sounds good. I do not see any problems with it. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteTishly, I read a great research article on the use of Instagram for a Geography course in Spain. The researchers found the students adding more depth related information than expected to the data pool of pictures and attracting tourists as well as local people into the course to add to their project. The project started with 10 students and ended with over 2000 uploading pictures to the study site. Here's to your success - may it also explode with excited student involvement.
ReplyDeleteThank you ladies. I didn't have an "explode" effect, but the students seemed to enjoy it.
